University Degrees Not Necessary Essay University degrees are very essential in life. However, depending on what job path an individual wants they decide whether a University degree is beneficial or not for them. While in college, a person can determine his strengths and weaknesses in whatever career choice they want and what path they decide to take in life and how a certain individual is going to pursue his dreams. College gives a person a chance to express their intelligence and creative abilities. Most jobs and careers require a college degree of some kind. However, this does not mean that without a college or university degree, success is unachievable. Each individual is different and has certain different areas of interest, depending on what job path someone wants and what route they want to take, they decide whether college or a university is beneficial or not to maintain a certain job of their choice. Education is knowledge that can never be taken away from an individual and one may always have an education to fall back on. The value of college education can be taken in all different kind of aspects it is sometimes based on the society that students are raised in. students look up thru a certain individual and admire them wishing to become one day the same or even beyond them. Others look at what they have been trough and want to do much better, to maintain a more decent lifestyle to buy a big house, luxurious vehicles, provide their families with all the amenities needed, and have everything they ever dream about. Everyone wants a better life, but not everyone has the motivation to succeed. College is nothing like high school; no longer are they moms and teachers telling students what to do, college students must rely on themselves and have the self- discipline to get done what is needed to pass their classes and graduate. In this sense, college is not for everyone. However, this does not mean that one cannot pursue his dreams and become a better person without a college or university degree one may still maintain a job of their choice and be happy. People say without an education, a person cannot succeed, but others do not agree with this. â€Å"David Frost, a British Media Personality, writer, comedian and journalist once opined ‘Dont aim for success if you want it. Just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally. † (Godbole, 2011). There are literally hundreds of people who have made millions without a college degree. For example, a list of successful people, â€Å"Bill gates, founder of Microsoft one of the richest man on earth right now. He was a Harvard drop out student, Ralph Lauren, one of the top most fashion designers in the world, he was a business school dropout, Michael Jackson, Pop singer that never went to college, Henry Ford, Assembly line manufacturing that never completed high school, and Mary Kay Ash, founder of â€Å"Mary Kay Cosmetics Inc. † College was never her priority. † (Godbole, 2011). One of the main reasons why people go to college is not because they want to go, but because they have to go. Most high school seniors are pressured by counselors and parents to go to college, because it is the right thing to do. Some students may have a different ideas about what they want in life, but because these mentors know what is best for them, they probably end up doing something they do not want to do, resulting in being miserable for the rest of their lives. There are people who have never set foot in a college or university and are doing better than people who have a master’s degree. Let’s face it going to college is socially impressive and some students go to college only for the title of being called a college student. For some young students it is an easy way to get away from home and become independent without losing the financial support of their parents. Some students do not want to be looked down upon society, so they do what would look best in the eyes of today’s society. It is practically into their heads that in order to be a successful person, they should have some sort of college education. Being a college student is perhaps more respectable role than being a janitor or garbage man. Going to college and getting a degree does not necessarily guarantee that an individual is going to get a job right after graduation. It is hard for a recent graduate to find a job. According to the Huff Post, â€Å"recent grads often have a more difficult time finding employment in their field. Half of recent grads are working jobs that dont require a degree† (Huffington, 2014). Therefore College education is not for everyone only for those who have the potential and desire to succeed in college. It is a decision that one makes depending on what career path they want to take. According to Policy. After a period of travelling, he became friends with Steve Wozniak. The two men worked in the garage of Steves parents, and together founded Apple Computers† Steve jobs certainly had talents proving that without a College or university degree he has still successful making him one of the riches man on the United states. In conclusion, success is achieved when one sets their mind to big things and lives a happy life by enjoying their work area. A piece of paper does not define a person, to be educated is to knowledge in many areas. Diversity is essential in the sense that many different things inspire to become better persons and achieve their own personal goals. Ehud Olmert Ali Purtell Ehud Olmert, a former prime minister of Israel, was motivated to try and make peace among the Israelis and Arabs. Other leaders of Israel used violence to try and resolve the conflict but it only made things worse. Olmert wanted to use peace instead of violence to try and end the Arab-Israeli conflict. His efforts to achieve peace affected the Arab-Israeli conflictbut without long term results. Olmert has worked as the former prime minister of Jerusalem, Deputy Premier, Finance Minister, and Mayor of Jerusalem, giving him many years of experience and knowledge regarding world affairs like the Arab-Israeli conflict. Ehud Olmert met with Palestinian President, Mohamed Abbas, in September of 2008 and assured him that Olmert’s plan for peace would not require any military presence. This allowed Mohamed to see that Olmert really wanted to make peace. Ehud Olmert didn’t always use peaceful means to handle the Palestinians and other countries. When he was elected as Mayor for Israel in 1993, he supported the growth of Jewish settlements around Jerusalem blocking out the Palestinians and other religions. Later, when he was elected as prime minister, he realized the only way to resolve the conflict was to address it peacefully and through negotiations. Israel has been dealing with Palestinian pressures to give back the land that they consider â€Å"theirs† and other leaders have had different views on how to handle aggression from the Palestinians. Ehud Olmert’s views included handling the conflict with peace and not using violence. He suggested to Mohamed Abbas a convergence plan which centered around the idea that the Israeli people would be forced out of the West Bank which is an are... ...m. A part of the problem today in this conflict is the people not willing to change or go along with what their leaders enforce and their ideas. There have been many acts of aggression from the Jews themselves because they didn’t feel Palestine’s should receive land. Civil disobedience and acting out is a cause to making the conflict last longer. Overall, Olmert as a prime minister was successful in being consistent in using negotiations to try to create peace even though long term peace was never gained. He worked hard to come up with plans and agreements, and met with different important figures in the world regarding the Arab-Israeli conflict. Using peace has prevented some violence between the Palestinians and Israelis as well as other countries. While Olmert is not in office anymore, he still believes a peaceful approach is the answer to help end this conflict.

Knowledge and bias

Today in history and science there is a lot of different bias that can be seen through everyday life. The question that I am trying to answer is if we can obtain knowledge despite bias and selection in history and science. There are three mall types of bias that we can see In today's world, firstly there Is cultural bias which has to do with blabs relating to culture, religion and personal practices and then there Is confirmation bias which is when someone is trying to prove a point and ignores all evidence which old contradict him.Both these types of bias can be found in history, however also in science there is the second type of bias when a scientist has an hypothesis and does experiments, selecting data which proves his idea. Despite what people say about selection, it is proven that selection helps us cut down all the knowledge that we obtained, otherwise there would be too much to analyze and Interpret at the same time. If all the huge amounts of knowledge were to be used there would be too much and it would defer us from the truth. Body:Both history and science since the beginning of time have contributed to help us a lot to develop both socially, economically and politically. History has taught us about the past and what must not be repeated in the future. Science on the other hand has managed to explain the way the world works and show us new technologies that have helped us for many years. However in both Science and history there will still always be someone that will contradict another person's point of view. History without bias and selection is hard to find as sources are already based on a certain point of view and we can only observe what that particular person believes.It is for this reason that so many books have been written in history as if there was no bias or selection we could Just write one big book with the same point of view. The worst about this idea is that it can really distort the facts so that we don't know what to believe. When referring to selection in history, it all depends on the historians analyzing different sources, he may have national or cultural bias that influenced his understanding.Some historians might believe one point of view whereas another one may believe the opposite. Selection is history is inevitable and a lot depends on what the historian has learnt in his life before he chooses the best possible sources. As for example if a historian learnt since the ginning of his life that communism was the best economic system, he will base his knowledge on what he has known for his whole life and be very critical of capitalism. How can we trust sources that we are not sure they are giving us real facts?In history there have always been hidden documents and hidden agendas in order to keep a country under control. On the other hand there is an argument that states that knowledge in history can be obtain despite bias and selection because history is about people and so if we know about their point of view, we know more about why wings happened and hoe people felt at that time. This is important but we have to be careful and try our best to find sources that show both sides of the information researched, it also important to know the cultural bias of a historian before we believe totally what he says.If we look at science today it has helped us a lot in the world as it has developed technology which has made our lives a lot easier. When referring to selection in science we notice that each time a new experiment is conducted the results may change a little. It is in this idea that we see selection as scientists are forced to choose specific methods, variables and materials.But how can the scientist know that the methods he is using are the most efficient ones? In science topic bias can be seen as money from research. For example in Science the holes in the ozone layer have been a trend for many years in which scientists have told the people of the world to use more renewable energy. But how can we be sure that using renewable energy will really help us? Science is constantly changing due to new technologies that make experiments less selective and give a less biased point of view.It is in this idea that we can say that technology is the key to developing science and being more sure of the knowledge we get from it. For example a scientist from European background may have different interpretations of results in comparison with the scientist from Saudi Arabia due to their religious beliefs and cultural background. Conclusion: In conclusion I believe that science and history are both very important in human development and I believe that even with bias and selection we are able to attain knowledge..I believe that in history bias and selection cannot be ignored, and that they are a very important part of understanding the human and emotional side of what happened. However in science bias and selection will decrease when more technologies are developed in order to decrease this bias and selection, which will let scientists, conduct their experiments, and repeat them systematically to show they are free of bias.
